NHL Prop Bets
Tyler Toffoli To Score a Goal (+175)
The New Jersey Devils have a 3.54 implied goal tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets, a matchup primed for scoring.
Since the Devils are still without Jack Hughes, they are going to need other players to step up and fill the missing production. We'll start with Tyler Toffoli, who is on the first forward line and the first power-play unit -- a prime spot for production due to this favorable matchup.
Since the start of January, the Blue Jackets have allowed 3.29 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the third-worst in the NHL. They are also allowing 1.44 high-danger goals per 60 minutes in the same situations, which is the ninth-worst in the league.
That is an important note for Toffoli, who has 20 high-danger unblocked shot attempts, which are the second-most on the Devils this season. He's strong at getting to the front of the net and generating scoring chances, which is exactly what the Blue Jackets have been struggling with since the start of January.
Between his role and the matchup, Toffoli is in a great spot tonight.
Nico Hischier Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-128)
Sticking with the Devils, we'll turn to their captain, Nico Hischier.
With Jack Hughes out of the lineup, Hischier has moved from the second forward line to the first forward line -- a nice bump in his role which can lead to more production.
Hughes was averaging 4.3 shots on goal per game, and that overall offensive pressure is something that Hischier has begun to fill.
Hischier should be able to continue that tonight since the Blue Jackets are allowing 65.93 total shot attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations this season, which is the fourth-most in the league.
Hischier is a top-line center with a prop sitting at only 2.5 shots and enters a very favorable matchup tonight. This is as straightforward as you can find for NHL props.
Noah Dobson To Record 1+ Assist (-130)
The New York Islanders are desperate to pick up a win against the Chicago Blackhawks tonight.
The Isles are in the midst of a skid as they come in as losers in three straight games (and 7 of their last 10) but get to take on one of the worst teams in the league.
This means they should look to pile up the goals, something everyone has been able to do against the Blackhawks this season. Chicago is allowing the third-most (3.06) goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.
We'll turn to Noah Dobson, who is having a stellar season with 37 assists and 6 goals through 44 games. A total of 43 points in 44 games is very strong and gives us a very clear prop to attack -- the assist market.
The 37 assists for Dobson are 84% of his total points. If he's grabbing a point in a game, it's highly likely it's going to be an assist; it's that simple.
With a role on the first defensive pairing and the first power-play unit, Dobson should look to do his normal thing against one of the worst defenses in the NHL.
