College Basketball Prop Bets

No. 10 Iowa State at Cincinnati

Dan Skillings Over 12.5 Points (-114)

Unranked Cincinnati is a home favorite over 10th-ranked Iowa State. In a crucial matchup for Cincy's tournament chances, I like leading scorer Dan Skillings to rise to the occasion and go over his 12.5-point prop.

Although the 6'6" sophomore averages just 12.2 points per game on the year, he's been hitting this point total consistently of late. Skillings has scored at least 13 points in seven of his last eight games, and in the one game he didn't, he played only 18 minutes. Skillings has averaged 32 minutes per game since that dud, so we can expect a full workload tonight.

Skillings has been shooting well from three in recent games, nailing multiple triples in four of his last five. He's shooting 34% from deep in Big 12 play and is poised to take advantage of an Iowa State D that allows the highest three-point rate in the conference, per Bart Torvik.

That said, Skillings isn't just a shooter. Over 51% of his baskets have come at the rim in Big 12 play. While the Cyclones don't allow many interior attempts, they've yielded a 63% at-rim field goal percentage this season, the third-highest in the conference.

Dan Skillings is on a heater and matches up well with Iowa State's defense. I like him to continue this torrid stretch and hit the over on his points prop.

No. 7 North Carolina at Syracuse

RJ Davis Over 21.5 Points (-114)

The seventh-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels have a sky-high 82.5 implied total tonight. That puts leading scorer RJ Davis in a good position to go over his points prop, currently set at 21.5 on FanDuel Sportsbook.

Davis averages exactly 21.5 points for the season, but he's really turned up the aggression in recent games. The senior has scored at least 22 points in five of his last six games, averaging 25.3 points per game over that span.

Tonight's matchup with Syracuse is the perfect recipe for another big RJ Davis performance. The Orange have been one of the worst defenses in the ACC, allowing 79.2 points per game in conference play and sporting the third-worst defensive rating.

They've allowed league-high marks in overall field goal percentage (49%) and three-point field goal percentage (39%). Yet they still rank third in the ACC in pace, setting Davis up for a big night.

RJ feasted in UNC's 103-67 win over Syracuse last month, notching 22 points in just 24 minutes of action. Tonight's 7.5-point spread suggests a closer matchup, which should only bolster Davis's chances of reaching 22 points.

It's chalky, but when the ACC's leading scorer is up against one of the conference's worst defenses, we shouldn't overthink it. I'll back RJ Davis to stay hot and cruise past his points prop in the process.

Ole Miss at No. 22 Kentucky

Reed Sheppard Over 4.5 Rebounds (+105)

Kentucky guard Reed Sheppard has been busy on the glass, so I'm all over his rebounds prop against Ole Miss.

The freshman stands at just 6'3", but that hasn't stopped him from averaging 4.3 rebounds per game this season. He's totaled at least five rebounds in 13 of 23 games overall, but he's been ultra-aggressive in recent games. He's grabbed at least five boards in four straight games, averaging 5.8 rebounds per game over that stretch.

He continues to play heavy minutes, averaging 30.2 minutes per game in SEC play. Kentucky has dropped four of their last six games, so I wouldn't expect them to go away from their talented freshman any time soon.

While Reed's recent work inside is encouraging, the matchup is why I'm in on this prop. Ole Miss ranks 310th out of 362 Division I teams in total rebound rate, and they've continued that into conference play. Their 47% mark in SEC action ranks 11th of 14 teams.

Reed Sheppard has racked up the boards in recent games. I like him to stay busy tonight, taking advantage of some lackluster opposition and hitting the over on his rebounding prop.
