When building an eligible bet, you’ll see the Bet Protect+ option directly on the betslip – just toggle it on, like you would a Profit Boost, to add full-game protection before confirming your wager. The 3% fee will be shown clearly before you place your bet.

No. Bet Protect+ is completely optional. You can place bets normally without it or toggle it on in the bet slip for eligible bets.

Bet Protect+ adds a flat 3% fee to your stake. For example, a $10 bet would cost $10.30 total ($10 stake + $0.30 fee). The fee is clearly displayed in the bet slip before you place your wager.

The 3% fee is deducted from your cash balance. Bonus Bets cannot be used to pay the fee.

The 3% fee covers the cost of your protection and is not refunded when Bet Protect+ activates – your coverage payout is separate from the fee. However, if your wager is voided before the event starts, the fee will be refunded in full.

You will temporarily see your bet marked as a loss while your coverage is being processed — this is normal and expected. Your bet will be updated and payouts processed as follows:

Straight bets: Stake refunded

Parlays/SGPs: The injured player’s prop leg is removed and the payout is recalculated

All payouts are in cash.

If your bet is protected, you'll receive your payout within 24 hours after the bet settles.

If you cash out (full or partial), the cashed-out portion is final and no longer eligible for Bet Protect+ protection.

If a player is officially ruled out before the game tips off, your straight bet will be voided and your full stake — including the Bet Protect+ fee — will be refunded to your cash balance. For parlays, the affected prop leg would be removed and your bet would be repriced – and Bet Protect+ would still apply to any other relevant legs.

FanDuel previously offered free first-quarter injury protection on eligible bets. We’ve replaced that with Bet Protect+ (in eligible states), which gives you full-game injury protection any time you choose to add it. While first-quarter protection is no longer included automatically, Bet Protect+ covers the entire game, including second-half moments that weren’t covered before. You’re in control of when you use it.

Bet Protect+ Rules 

Bet Protect+ is an optional protection that a user may apply to an eligible wager prior to placing such wager for a fee equal to three percent (3%) of the eligible wager (“Bet Protect+ Fee”). For example, if you wanted to apply Bet Protect+ to an eligible $10.00 wager, you would be charged an additional $0.30 (3% of $10.00) separate from the underlying $10.00 wager, paying a total amount of $10.30.

Permitted Wager Types 

Bet Protect+ is available for application on NBA player prop markets that span the entire game. Player prop straight bets and player prop legs included in parlays, Same Game Parlays, and Same Game Parlay+ are eligible for Bet Protect+. Round Robin wagers are ineligible for Bet Protect+.

If applicable, you will be able to toggle on Bet Protect+ coverage for your eligible wager within your betslip prior to placing the eligible wager. If you form a parlay that includes player props in addition to other straight wagers (e.g., moneyline, spread, totals), the Bet Protect+ coverage will attach to each applicable player prop.

Protection Eligibility

With Bet Protect+, if your player is injured at any point during the game in which your applicable wager is placed on and does not return to the game prior to its completion, then your wager will be covered in accordance with the below:

 Straight Bets

If you apply Bet Protect+ to your eligible wager and your player is injured at any point during the game in which your applicable wager is placed on and does not return to the game prior to its completion, then Bet Protect+ will automatically be applied and your full stake will be returned in cash to your account.

 Please note, your bet will be initially settled as a loss once the game ends. It may take up to 24 hours after the game ends for the cash to appear in your account.

 Parlays, Same Game Parlays, Same Game Parlay+

If you apply Bet Protect+ to your eligible wager and your player is injured at any point during the game in which your applicable wager is placed on and does not return to the game prior to its completion, then Bet Protect+ will automatically be applied and your bet will be re-priced with new odds.

 If the affected parlay leg is the only losing part of the bet, you will get paid your stake + re-priced winnings in cash for the remaining legs at the new odds.

 Please note, your bet will be initially settled as a loss once the game ends. It may take up to 24 hours after the bet settles for the cash to appear in your account.

 Injury Eligibility 
 Bet Protect+ activates when a player suffers an injury during a game that prevents their return, provided that an “Official Reporting Source” reports an injury designation within the 24-hour settlement window.

 Official Reporting Sources
 FanDuel recognizes injury designations from any of the following “Official Reporting Sources”:

• Team-issued communications (e.g., press releases, official statements, post-game media availability);
• Major sports news outlets and their affiliates (e.g., ESPN, Yahoo Sports, The Athletic, NBC Sports, Fox Sports, CBS Sports, Bleacher Report) attributing the injury status to an official team source; or
• Credentialed local beat journalists (e.g., Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, New York Post, Philadelphia Inquirer) attributing the injury status to an official team source.

 Bet Protect+ coverage will apply so long as one Official Reporting Source reports an injury designation within the 24-hour settlement window, even in the event there is mixed or conflicting reporting on a player’s injury designation.

 Coverage Rules 

• Injuries must occur during the game.
• Real-time broadcast commentary does not constitute official designation and will not independently activate Bet Protect+ protection.
• If a player leaves the game, but later returns, Bet Protect+ will not apply.
• If a player leaves the game, briefly returns, and then exits again without returning due to injury, Bet Protect+ will apply.
• If no official injury status is designated within 24 hours, Bet Protect+ will not be activated.

 Illnesses preventing a player's return are treated the same as injuries and qualify for coverage. Eligibility applies uniformly regardless of roster status (starter or bench player) or when the injury occurred during the game.

 Fee Structure

When applying Bet Protect+ to an applicable wager in your betslip, the Bet Protect+ Fee will be deducted from your cash balance.

 The Bet Protect+ Fee will be applied regardless of wager outcome, except as follows: 

• If a wager is voided prior to the start of the event, the Bet Protect+ Fee will be refunded to your account.
• If a wager results in a push, the Bet Protect+ Fee will not be refunded.

 The Bet Protect+ Fee will appear in the betslip prior to bet placement, in the bet receipt following bet placement, and in your “My Bets” history.

 FanDuel may waive the Bet Protect+ Fee at its sole discretion, including as part of promotions, system tests, or individual user accommodations.

 Bet Protect+ Fees are non-refundable and will not be returned upon account closure, except as provided above, for voided wagers.
