Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy hockey on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

NHL Prop Bets

J.T. Miller Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-113)

The Vancouver Canucks have a chance to close out their first-round series against the Nashville Predators.

Being up 3-2 with a chance to close things out is always a great spot to be and that's where the Canucks find themselves tonight. It's been a bit of a back-and-forth series, and it should continue tonight along with a lower-scoring game.

Since I'm not expecting a ton of scoring, we'll keep it simple with a shot prop for J.T. Miller, who sees time on the first forward line and the first power-play unit.

In this series, Miller is tied for the team lead in both shots on goal (13) and total points (6). He's been a consistent factor for the Canucks in this series and with the potential to close things out, Miller should look to keep things simple and put pucks on net.

Wyatt Johnston To Record a Point (-140)

After stumbling in the first two games of the series, the Dallas Stars have won three straight against the Vegas Golden Knights.

The Stars have been one of, if not the best, teams in the Western Conference all season and they're showing why. Starting the playoffs 0-2 is never how you want to get going, but the skill and the depth have shined over the last three games to put them up 3-2.

The playoffs have been a bit of a coming-out party for Wyatt Johnston, who comes in with six points in the first five games of this series. The 20-year-old is on the second forward line and the second power-play unit, a spot we've seen him at times in the regular season.

Johnston also leads the team with 21 shots on goal, a rather surprising mark for such a young player. All in all, Johnston is the best player in this series and that will continue tonight when the Stars close out the series.
